NOAA Atlas 14 Precipitation Frequency Estimates
in GIS Compatible Formats

This web page provides access to NOAA Atlas 14 precipitation frequency estimates (mean values and upper and lower bounds of the 90% confidence interval) that were calculated based on the analysis of partial duration series in GIS compatible formats.

The GIS formats are provided as a convenience to users and do not imply endorsement by or represent opinions of the U.S. Government.

DOWNLOAD GIS DATA:

The files can either be downloaded 1) via pull-down menu, 2) by anonymous ftp or 3) via web browser. Since the size of compressed ASCII grid files and shapefiles is between 2 and 4 MB, ftp is recommended for multiple-file downloads. To obtain precipitation frequency estimates without downloading files, please visit the PFDS interface.

1) Via pull-down menu:
Region:
Average recurrence interval:

Type:

2) By anonymous ftp:
Action Type this
Open ftp to the server: ftp hdsc.nws.noaa.gov
Login as anonymous user: anonymous

Get one file: Example: mget sa100yr24ha.ver4.gz (this will download the 100-year 24-hour ArcInfo ASCII grid for the Semiarid Southwest)
Example: mget sa100yr24hav4_shp.tar.gz (this will download the 100-year 24-hour ESRI Shapefile and associated metadata file for the Semiarid Southwest)
Get several files Example: mget sa*yr24ha.ver4.gz (The wildcard '*' in this case will get all frequencies for the 24-hour duration)
Quit ftp: quit
